Every child needs a family. Sometimes it is just not their own. Foster care system PETRA.
In addition to residential care, foster families are historically the oldest form of help for children and adolescents in Germany.
This form of help for children and adolescents is to be shown great respect, as foster families are ready to open the private space of their family to a strange and often stressed child and make their familiarity available as a help.
Here they will face a wide variety of challenges: looking after a child who has his or her own history. To create warmth and reliability, but also to be goal-oriented and there is also a family of origin that is present and exerts influence. All this every day – without the possibility of a break.
“Projekt PETRA” supports and advices foster families in all kinds of ways in this challenging work in order to ensure the best possible care for children and adolescents.
